In general, the project aimed to fast-track genetic characterization of forest genetic materials of Falcata (Falcataria moluccana (Miq.) Barneby & J.W. Grimes.) and Yemane (Gmelina arborea Roxb)Ā available in the Philippines. Specifically, it aimed to: (1) Identify variations, if any, among the selected forest genetic resources (FGR) materials of the two species in the seedling stage; and, (2) Select FGR materials that will be genetically characterized and analyzed in the laboratory.Ā
The effects of soil pH, mother tree, and their interactions were very evident on seed germination, initial height, final height, and survival in certain batches, including seedling biomass.
