In order for the Philippines to be self-sufficient in meeting the fry requirements of the milkfish industry, there is a need to maximize fry production through the satellite system by utilizing the existing vacant facilities of abandoned shrimp hatcheries. This system is estimated to produce Ā±50-100 fry M/year (Year 1), thereby filling up part of the gap in fry production resulting in reduced fry importation. This project aims to sustain the milkfish satellite hatchery to maintain a steady supply of good quality milkfish fry and fingerlings in the country.
