The Department of Science and Technology – Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) in partnership with SRA developed three locally-fabricated sugarcane harvesting equipment for small farms. These are prototypes of sugarcane cutter, leaf stripper, and loader. Performance tests were conducted in Central Azucarera Don Pedro (CADP), Nasugbu, Batangas and Sugar Regulatory Administration – Luzon Agricultural Research and Extension Center (SRA-LAREC) Floridblanca, Pampanga. Results of the test and the feedback of both farmers and project personnel were used to improve the equipment and create operation manuals for each. The three prototype equipment were regarded as complete and functional, however, the design and features can still be improved to make them more effective and efficient.
