The results of the study showed that it is technically feasible to harvest for veneer production the 3, 5, and 7-year old Falcata trees which grew from known/certified seed sources. However, depending on the tree age and diameter, falcata tree may be processed as corestock veneer only as in the case of the 3-year old while the 5 and 7-year old may be processed both as an outerply or corestock veneer depending on diameter and standard followed by a veneer and plywood company. Veneer quality based on lathe checks occurrence considering frequency and depth showed that for thinkstock veneer such as 0.85mm, these may be obtained from the 5 and 7-year old falcata.
This study also conducted bio-efficacy tests, which showed that the application of the preservative formulations provided protection against the test fungi P. sanguineus and L striata.
