The program will utilize genome-based approaches to generate and develop genomics-enabled resources, tools, and technologies designed to improve milkfish aquaculture production. The program will focus on two key aspects: 1) Genetic improvement of broodstock through assessment and management of broodstock diversity, and generation of genomic resources for improvement of performance and production traits; 2) Improving efficiency of hatchery production by generating technologies for sex identification, profiling milkfish gene expression for growth performance, feeding efficiency, and genome-based methods for improving health, quality, and growth performance of milkfish through the grow-out period.
