This project assessed the genetic structure of natural almaciga populations and other selected native trees producing chemical products, and characterize transcriptome of Agathis philippinensis to identify gene associated with resin biosynthesis and to screen and develop molecular markers for other basic molecular functions, cellular components, or biological processes identified using bioinformatic tools. Significant accomplishments include the development of DNA sequences and genotype profiles of almaciga and bitaog, and the development of transcriptome of almaciga and potential genes associated with resin production.
