Harvesting cherries at the right maturity produces better tasting coffee.Ā Through the SARAI Program, University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) researchers developed a mobile application named CAPHE: Coffee Application Harvest Date Estimator.Ā This mobile App forecasts the best harvest date of Robusta, Arabica, Liberica, and Excelsa coffee varieties based on the local temperature forecast and the coffee phenological data.Ā CAPHE can also be used for scheduled farming practice advisories that are based on the stages of coffee fruit development.Ā CAPHE App, once downloaded in the mobile phone, can already be used anywhere even without internet connectivity.Ā The application is still being field-tested in different areas of the country and being fine-tuned to ensure the accuracy and ease of use before launching it to the public.
