With the aim of providing effective recommendations for increased productivity and profitability in QP, the combination of optimum planting distance and fertilizer application rate was evaluated in monocropping and QP-coconut intercropping systems in Camarines Norte, Samar and Leyte.
Based on initial results, the combination of fertilizer recommended rate (298-70-315 kg/ha NPK) for QP and planting density of 44,000 plants/ha (100 cm x 50 cm x 30 cm planting distance) produced highest fruit yield of 61 mt/ha in monocropping system in Leyte. The said combined cultural practices also produced 47 mt/ha of QP in a field intercropped with coconut in Leyte.
