This project aims to rehabilitate using S&T-based approaches to the banana-cardaba production areas in the Typhoon Pablo affected municipalities in Davao Oriental. The proposed project sites will be located in the Municipalities of Tarragona, Cateel, and Boston, which belong to the 2nd Congressional District of Davao Oriental. Of the three project sites, Cateel and Boston were typhoon “Pablo”-stricken areas where 100 percent of the major crops tilled by farmers were devastated, leaving the farmlands with zero production. The target beneficiaries of the project would be the banana-cardaba farmers from the three project sites. Each farmer cooperator will be provided with training on banana-cardaba production, disease-free plantlets/ seedlings, fertilizers, and assisted in the field planting. The FITS Center is encouraged to establish a banana-cardaba nursery for other farmers who want to avail of suckers/seedlings. It would be able to provide technical assistance, production, and reproduction of IEC materials for dissemination.
